Imperial Russian Porcelain plate  Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, , period of Emperor  Alexander II

Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, St. Petersburg, period of Alexander II. Each with sunken cavetto banded in gold, the upper rim with a gilt monogram of Prince Michael Andreas Barclay under a royal crown, the outer rim with a double gilt band and finished in crimson. Underside of each with green underglaze mark of Alexander II.

Michael Andreas Barclay de Tolly (Михаи́л Богда́нович Баркла́й-де-То́лли) was born in a German-Baltic family of Scottish origin living in Riga [currently in Latvia] since the 17th century. The exact date and place of his birth remain debated. Regarding the date, the most frequently cited is December 27, 1761 but it seems that it is in fact that of his baptism.

He became a Russian General then Field Marshal, and figured prominently in the Napoleonic Wars: campaign in Poland and East Prussia in 1806, French invasion of Russia in 1812, campaign in Germany in 1813, campaign in northeast France in 1814.

Alexander II was Emperor of Russia, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Finland from 2 March 1855 until his assassination in 1881. Alexander's most significant reform as emperor was the emancipation of Russia's serfs in 1861, for which he is known as Alexander the Liberator.

The Imperial Porcelain Factory (Russian: Императорский Фарфоровый Завод, romanized: Imperatorskii Farforovyi Zavod), also known as the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory (abbreviated as IPM), is a producer of hand-painted ceramics in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was established by Dmitry Ivanovich Vinogradov in 1744 and was supported by the Russian tsars since Empress Elizabeth. Many still refer to the factory by its well-known former name, the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory.
