Feodor Alekseyvich Afanasiev (F.A.) was one of Faberge's notable independent suppliers, active between 1913-1917. Born into an Orthodox peasant family in Dubrovsky, Smolensky District, Afanasiev's journey to becoming a master goldsmith is one of determination and artistry. At the age of thirteen, he left his village for St. Petersburg, apprenticing under Finnish master goldsmith Enok Sistonen.
