19th Century Russian Antique Silver Icon 4 parts
FINE RUSSIAN ICON IN FOUR PARTS, 19TH C. Comprising affinely painted icon depicting four different miraculous working icons of the Mother of God each identified with corresponding inscription. Clockwise for upper left they include The Mother of God Joy to All Who Sorrow, The Life Giving Font Mother of God, The Three handed Mother of God, and The Blessed Womb (Russian Blazhennoe Chrevo) Mother of God, which is a reverse image of the Milk Nourishing Mother of God type. Overlaid with a silver repousse and chased oklad with applied haloes.
Hallmarked Moscow 1896-1908,
Cyrillic makers mark Br.M., for the Markov Brothers, and 84 standard.
